WAIKATO
HORTICULTURE AND ABORICULTURE QUALIFICATIONS (WINTEC)
Horticulture and arboriculture students are available year round to work on a range of projects in industry. It is expected that employers pay the student the minimum wage for their work and hours are negotiable. Interns can assist with:
- Amenity horticulture
- Landscape design
- Arboriculture

DIPLOMA IN TECHNOLOGY - SCIENCE (WINTEC)
Second year applied science students undertake a work placement during the July and September holidays. Most placements are 150 hours work and there is no cost to the employer. Students can assist with a range of work, including:
- Analytical chemistry lab work
- Microbiology lab work
- Dairy industry lab work
- Medical lab work
- Environmental monitoring

VETERINARY NURSING AND ANIMAL TECHNICIANS QUALIFICATIONS (WINTEC)
Students studying veterinary nursing and production animal technician qualifications are required to complete work experience placements as part of their study. Placements are between 75 and 200 hours and there is usually no cost to the employer. Interns can assist with:
- A range of work in small animal practices
- Handling and treating production animals
- Animal remedies
- General business practices

BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (WINTEC)
Bachelor of Technology interns are required to undertake an industry project in their third year. The 300-hour project is completed in one academic year, with the actual industry placement occurring in the middle of the year. In most cases there is no cost to the employer.
Interns can assist with:
- Agritechnology
- Biotechnology
- Environmental technology
- Food technology
